Writing & Performing the Two Minute Play- Winter 2019, Saturday Session
8 class sessions over 8 weeks
Saturdays from 12:00PM-3:00PM, January 19th – March 9th
Classes take place at The Neo-Futurarium, with one offsite class on 2/23.
Writing & Performing the Two Minute Play is taught by ensemble members of The Neo-Futurists. Instructors for this class have yet to be determined.
In this introductory class, students explore core Neo-Futurist tenets of honesty, brevity, chance and audience interaction in order to create short plays in our unique, non-illusory aesthetic. Using games and exercises, weekly writing challenges and regular in-class workshops, students learn specific play formulas and styles that recur on our stage. In the second half of the class, the student ensemble follows a version of the Neo-Futurists’ weekly creative process to pitch, rehearse and perform a delectable menu of their own original two-minute plays. This culminating show is open to the public, and presented on our stage at The Neo-Futurarium.
