Applications to audition for The Neo-Futurist Ensemble are now open. Please read the information below and fill out the form at the bottom.

Preliminary auditions will be held Sunday February 16 and Monday February 17. Accepted applicants will be slotted for one of those days, per availability.  More information about what to prepare and callbacks will be sent to you upon applying.

Application Deadline: Monday, February 03 11:59pm CDT.

Join the ensemble, perform in The Infinite Wrench:
The Neo-Futurists are holding auditions to welcome new members into the active ensemble, as writer/performer/directors and collaborators in their ongoing, ever-changing late night show, The Infinite Wrench

Who we’re looking for:
The Neo-Futurists do not cast for characters, roles or parts; we cast for you. The ensemble is a multifaceted, diverse group of individuals; people of any gender, race, ethnicity, orientation, age, size and ability are welcome to audition. While The Neo-Futurists primarily create theater, people of all artistic disciplines at any experience level will be considered.

Commitment:

Neo-Futurist ensemble members write, direct, and perform The Infinite Wrench on a weekly basis. One week in the show includes Tuesday evening rehearsal and shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; writing and show preparation happen independently. Show pay is $264 per week via I9.

First-year Neos perform 40 weeks. In later years, week requirements taper to 35, 24, and 16. While tenure times vary, Neo-Futurists make this their artistic home for three years or more. After their first year, Ensemble members are eligible to pitch a full-length show produced by The Neo-Futurist Theater. Neos may also teach classes and perform additional gigs; workloads and pay will vary.

Neos are responsible for the care and maintenance of our shared space, promotion of our work, and participation in collective projects like the annual ensemble fundraiser. Mandatory company meetings take place one Sunday night per month. Our consensus-based, non-hierarchical structure requires active participation from everybody.

Ensemble members receive a $250 monthly health insurance reimbursement for marketplace plans.

For more information:
  • Saturday, January 18, 12pm-2pm: Artistic Director Connor Shioshita Pickett will lead a 2-hour crash course in the basics of Neo-Futurism. This is a free introductory course for anyone very new to our work, especially those who have never taken a Neo class. (If you are an experienced student, you don’t need it.) Sign up here.
  • Saturday, January 25: the cast of The Infinite Wrench will hold a post-show Q&A about life as a Neo-Futurist and participation in the company. Attend TIW to join.
APPLY:

Late submissions will not be accepted. After your application has been reviewed, you will be notified of your scheduled time. If we can’t guarantee you a slot at this time, a waitlist will be available. You’ll be asked to prepare an original 2-minute Neo-Futurist solo piece that you will perform for the current ensemble. More information about the audition, callbacks and details on company membership will be emailed to you after submitting your application.

Application Deadline: Monday, february 3 11:59pm
