WEEK ONE

ALL YOU NEED IS AN AUDIENCE
TAUGHT BY ABBY PAJAKOWSKI
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6TH, 6:30PM-9:30PM

We can put pressure on ourselves to come up with a fully-formed, brilliant, perfect, ready-to-serve production in the dark and lonely privacy of our own writing cave. But, so often, the best discoveries and most honest moments are found smack dab in front of the audience. Using clown techniques and audience interaction, ensemble member Abby Pajakowski will lead the participants through exercises that focus on presence and people – who is in the room, what are they offering you, and what can you discover by offering, listening, and reacting.

WEEK TWO

THE IDEA IS OUT THERE: FINDING INSPIRATION OUT IN THE WORLD
TAUGHT BY ALÉ RAMIREZ
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13TH, 6:30PM-9:30PM
When you’re out of ideas, staring at a blank page can be like standing in a blizzard without a sense of where to go. In this workshop, we’re closing the laptop, putting the pen down, and going for a walk. Led by ensemble member Alé Ramirez, we will explore the streets and alleys of Andersonville with intention, letting our minds soft focus and tune in to the inspiration around us. Odd graffiti, fragments of conversations, the garbage blown onto the lawns, everything and anything will be collected and brought back to that blank page. The idea is out there, it’s just waiting for you.

WEEK THREE

FROM TRASH TO TREASURE: FINDING INSPIRATION IN EVERYDAY OBJECTS
TAUGHT BY ANNIE SHARE
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20TH, 6:30PM-9:30PM
Do you ever look at an empty roll of toilet paper and think: hey, that really captures the essence of how I felt the last time I hurt someone I love?Or feel a wave of imposter syndrome and wonder: wow, this can best be expressed with a mason jar of water and a splash of artificial food coloring? Objects can be a point of inspiration for all sorts of stories – and we can use objects creatively to tell these stories in different ways. In this class with ensemble member Annie Share, we will use junk and miscellany to find new meaning in our writing and everyday materials.

WEEK FOUR

IN WHICH YOU WILL WRITE A WHOLE ENTIRE DANG SHOW IN ONE NIGHT
TAUGHT BY NEIL BHANDARI
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27TH, 6:30PM-9:30PM
In this evening-length workshop, participants will arrive with a single idea, thought or concept and shape it into a thesis statement, a sentence, a monologue, a scene, an act, a song, a dance and eventually, that’s right, a Whole Entire Dang Show. An idea worth caring about is an idea worth writing about, and an idea worth writing about is an idea that you can build a show out of. Is the Tour de France the best summer fling you’ve ever had? Is your Brony-era due for a longform retrospective? Are you always wondering, ahem, how to be cool? Let’s make a show about it. Tonight.
