Writing & Performing the Two Minute Play – Summer 2019, Wednesday Session

8 class sessions over 8 weeks

Wednesdays from 7:00PM-10:00PM, January 22nd – March 11th

Instructors: Dan Kerr-Hobert & Leah Urzendowski (Neo-Futurist Ensemble Members)

Classes take place at The Neo-Futurarium, 5153 N Ashland Ave

Tuition $250

In this introductory class, students explore core Neo-Futurist tenets of honesty, brevity, chance and audience interaction in order to create short plays in our unique, non-illusory aesthetic. Using games and exercises, weekly writing challenges and regular in-class workshops, students learn specific play formulas and styles that recur on our stage. In the second half of the class, the student ensemble follows a version of the Neo-Futurists’ weekly creative process to pitch, rehearse and perform a delectable menu of their own original two-minute plays. This culminating show is open to the public, and presented on our stage at The Neo-Futurarium.
